Frequently Asked Questions

What is MapleSecure? +

MapleSecure is a Canadian-built, all-in-one platform for encrypted document storage, legally binding e-signatures, IP-aware audit trails, and secure outbound fax. It is part of the Maple suite from Joel & Nanz Inc.

Are MapleSecure e-signatures legally binding in Canada? +

Yes. MapleSecure produces legally binding electronic signatures with a certificate of completion and a full audit trail (IP address, user agent, timestamp), aligned with Canadian electronic-transactions law.

Does my data stay in Canada? +

Yes. MapleSecure is built and hosted in Canada and reflects PIPEDA privacy expectations. Documents are stored encrypted (AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit), outside the web root.

Is MapleSecure bilingual? +

Yes. MapleSecure is fully bilingual (English and Canadian French). You can switch languages anytime with the EN/FR toggle.

How much does MapleSecure cost? +

MapleSecure has a free-forever plan (2 documents/month, 10 MB storage, full audit trails) with no credit card. The Unlimited plan is $15 CAD/month (unlimited signed documents, team roles, audit-trail export). Secure fax, secure messaging, and self-destruct are available as add-ons. See the Pricing page.

What is secure fax? +

Secure fax lets you send a stored document or a signed package as a digital fax directly from your vault, with delivery-status confirmation—useful for legal, healthcare, and finance recipients.

How does MapleSecure's document vault work? +

The MapleSecure vault stores your files encrypted outside the public web root, with SHA-256 integrity checks and per-vault access controls. Create a vault per client or matter, drag files in, and share with your team at view-only or full-access level.

Can MapleSecure collect signatures from multiple people in a set order? +

Yes. MapleSecure signing workflows support multiple signers and a signing order. Place fields per signer, set the sequence, and each person automatically receives their own secure link when it is their turn.

Can MapleSecure send a document to many people at once? +

Yes. Bulk send lets you deliver the same document or signature request to an entire list of recipients in one action, with each person getting their own secure link and audit trail.

What is document and quote self-destruct? +

Self-destruct (an add-on) sets an auto-expiry on a quote, contract draft, or proposal—after the chosen date or number of views, the document becomes inaccessible and is purged from the vault. It is ideal for time-limited offers and quotes that should not be reused later.

Can MapleSecure quotes expire automatically? +

Yes. Using self-destruct, you can make a quote expire on a set date or after a number of views, so a stale price is never treated as current. The expiry event stays recorded in your audit log.

What are MapleSecure secure sharing links? +

MapleSecure generates tokenized links your recipients open without creating an account. You can add a password and an expiry date, and the recipient gets a clean read-only view with the audit trail attached.

Does MapleSecure keep an audit trail? +

Yes. Every view and signing event logs the IP address, user agent, timestamp, and document hash. The Unlimited plan also lets you export all signing activity across your account as CSV or PDF for any date range.

Does MapleSecure support multi-factor authentication (MFA)? +

Yes. Every account can be protected with TOTP-based two-factor authentication, enabled in one click from security settings, which stops password-reuse and account-takeover attacks.

How does MapleSecure handle document retention? +

Your vaults, signed packages, and audit trails are retained on Canadian servers and stay attached to your account. Certificates of completion remain attached to signed packages, and any expiry or purge events are recorded in the audit log for compliance.

Is MapleSecure PIPEDA compliant? +

MapleSecure is built around PIPEDA (Canada's federal privacy law) expectations: Canadian data residency, encryption at rest and in transit, and complete audit trails that support proper record keeping.

Can multiple team members use MapleSecure? +

Yes. The Unlimited plan provides Owner, Manager, and Staff roles with per-vault permissions, so a staff member can work on their own matters without seeing others' files. Adding or removing a team member takes seconds.

How does MapleSecure encrypt my documents? +

Your files are encrypted with AES-256 at rest and transmitted over TLS 1.3. They are stored outside the public web root, and every file carries a SHA-256 hash so any tampering can be detected. Access is controlled vault by vault.

Does MapleSecure's e-signature hold up in a dispute? +

Yes. Every signed package keeps a certificate of completion and a tamper-evident audit trail showing who signed, when, from which IP address, and with which user agent, plus the document hash. These records support the signature's admissibility if it is ever challenged.

Does MapleSecure secure fax replace a fax machine? +

Yes. You send a digital fax to a regular fax number directly from your vault—no hardware or dedicated line required. You get delivery-status confirmation, and the send is recorded in the audit trail. Secure fax is a paid add-on.

How do I get started with MapleSecure (onboarding)? +

Onboarding takes minutes: create a free account, create your first vault, upload a document, and invite a signer. There is no install and no credit card for the free plan. On the Unlimited plan you can then add colleagues and assign them roles.

Can I cancel and export my data? +

Yes. You can cancel the Unlimited plan anytime—there is no long-term contract. Before you leave, download your documents and signed packages, and export your audit trails as CSV or PDF. Your data stays yours.

What is the difference between the free and Unlimited plans? +

The free plan ($0) covers 2 documents/month, 10 MB storage, and full audit trails. The Unlimited plan ($15 CAD/month) adds unlimited signed documents, team roles, and audit-trail export. Secure fax, secure messaging, and self-destruct are available as add-ons.

Does the recipient need an account to sign or view? +

No. Recipients open a secure tokenized link to view or sign—no account required. You can password-protect the link and give it an expiry date. The event is still recorded in the audit trail.

Is MapleSecure suitable for regulated industries (legal, healthcare, finance)? +

Yes. Canadian data residency, encryption at rest and in transit, complete audit trails, and two-factor authentication make it a fit for law firms, accountants, property managers, and any team with confidentiality and record-keeping obligations.
